What does chicken pox look like on darker skin?
This fascinating website is written by a medical student, who realised there was a lack of education and a sparsity of images of skin lesions in dark skin. He went about creating a book which has been massively successful. He then built up an online bank of images of skin conditions showing lesions in black and brown skin.
The site is easy to navigate and has scope for uploading further images for future clinicians. Such a brilliant simple idea for something that has been missing in the online world. As telemedicine, and specifically teledermatology, expands and reduces barriers to healthcare, we need to ensure that we are able to appropriately diagnose and treat patients from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
